A leftover of this can be found in the final build of the game near the shield bunker (a droid build pad that uses a wrench hologram instead of a slicer) * Buildable droids at designated locations. * Buildable mounted blaster turrets with barricade walls (also buildable) This location was blocked off with logs because it let the AT-STs rush the Rebel starting area * A second type of AT-ST/vehicle trap that triggers logs to roll down a hill and instantly destroy AT-STs (the AT-ST death animation in BF1/2 are an homage to the AT-ST that died to this trap in the movie). The bonus content of the 2004 or 2003 Star Wars Original Trilogy DVD box set has a demo for Battlefront 1 featuring an early playable version of Endor. *This would also explain why the 501st had such a big role in BF2.
The event took place in that Redwood forest (I forget the name) and it had 1:1 scale replicas of AT-STs, a reconstruction of the Endor shield bunker where you would play the game, and staff dressed as Rebel and Imperial soldiers (probably members of the 501st cosplay group). To promote the release of BF1, there was a live event in Sacremento, California where attendees could play BF1. Rhen Var is included in the game as an homage to the Rhen Var arc from the 2003 Clone Wars video game (also made by Pandemic).
The large fortification at the back of Rhen Var harbor actually has an exploreable interior with staircases and a second floor (and also vaguely resembles the bases in Halo 3's Avalanche). In the Clone Wars era story mode, the final battle (the Battle of Kashyyyk) very subtly (at the time of the game's release) teased on of the final battles of the Clone War and Revenge of the Sith but also depicts a very early concept of Kachirho landing complete with beach barricades and D-Day style sea walls. Kamino (Tipoca City) was originally suppose to have starfighters and dropships on it but, it was cut so late into development that it misleads players into thinking their present with its preview video. A lot of the weapon particles were removed to save on resources which is why the EMP grenades and EMP launchers create normal grenade explosion as well as why some maps like Mos Eisley look "flat" (all elevation was removed from the map in BF2). Despite BF2 being considered the "superior" installation in the franchise, BF1 has more graphical polish than BF2. This has never been patched out of the game but, the issue was removed in the sequel. Because the AI is trying to move its priority to capturing command posts. Whenever the Reinforcement count reaches about 28, ALL bots on that team will bail out of the vehicles regardless of if they're in land vehicles, turrets, or aircraft (killing them usually). This is the only time you can see them in the game because they're replaced with ISDs in Instant Action. When playing Mos Eisley in Story Mode, you can see MC80s flying over the town. I was originally going to post this in guides but I hit the text limit. Felt like sharing some random trivia that I've known for years that I think a lot of people don't know.
